A. Change in Mode of production and Relations in production happen simultaneously.
B. Change in Mode of production follows the change in Relations in production.
C. Change in Mode of production precedes the change in Relations in production.
D. Relations in production are not important.
ANS: (C) The concept of ‘mode of production’ was contributed by Karl Marx which remains as a central theme in his works. According to Marx, the mode of production refers to the specific organisation of economic production using land, raw materials, machines, labour force etc. and the term relations of production refers to the relationship between those who own the means of production (the capitalists) and those who do not (the workers). The change in the mode of production precedes the change in relations in production.
