The entrance exam is conducted by the university itself for the courses M.A. in General Economics and M.A. in Financial Economics.

- The Entrance Examination for M.A. in Economics consists of only objective type questions. The test is designed to examine/evaluate the candidates’ general aptitude (including quantitative ability) and understanding of economics at the bachelor’s level.
- There is a separate test for M.A. in Financial Economics. The modalities and syllabus for the entrance examination for this programme are the same as for the entrance test for M.A. in Economics.
Eligibility Criteria
General Economics
Bachelor’s degree in Economics with 50% overall aggregate and 50% marks in Economics Or Bachelor’s degree in any subject with 60% aggregate in either Commerce, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, History, Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology or any Social Sciences subjects.
Financial Economics
Bachelor’s degree in Economics with 50% overall aggregate and 50% marks in Economics or Bachelor’s degree in any subject with 60% aggregate in either Commerce, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, History, Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology or any Social Sciences subjects Candidates must have studied mathematics compulsorily at the 10+2 level
PONDICHERRY UNIVERSITY
Candidates who are seeking admission in this University can appear for the entrance exam conducted by them itself. The University organizes the exam at the national level.

Eligibility criteria for admission
Bachelor’s degree in Economics (with Quantitative Techniques / Statistics) or any Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences with Economics as a subject mathematics as a subject at +2/ Higher Secondary level or Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Operations Research/ Cooperation and Banking with a minimum of 50% of marks, as recognized by Pondicherry University or as recognized by the UGC.
CENTRAL UNIVERSITIES COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (CUCET) – JNU AND DELHI UNIVERSITY
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been assigned the task of conducting the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CU-CET) for both Undergraduate/ Integrated (UI) and Post Graduate (PG) Programmes for the 12 participating Central Universities in Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Kashmir, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Jammu, South Bihar, Karnataka, and Kerala.
The JNU administration decided to conduct admissions to its various programmes through the Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET) from 2022-2023. The Delhi University administration has already stated that they will be also conducting undergraduate/ postgraduate admissions through it, instead of through a cut-off system, from 2022-2023.
OTHER UNIVERSITIES IN KERALA
1.Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) – Applied Economics
CUSAT, or Cochin University of Science and Technology, conducts the Common Admission Test for admission to all UG and PG Programme. It is a university-level entrance exam for candidates who wish to study at the university. It is held once a year. Department of Applied Economics (DAE) was envisaged primarily as a research-oriented Department with its focus on applied economic problems. The Common Admission Test of Cochin University of Science and Technology is expected to conduct in the month of July 2022.
Syllabus and Exam Pattern – M.A. Applied Economics: Comprises 150 objective type questions designed to test the proficiency of the applicant at the Graduate level in Economics. 50 % of the questions will be from Economics, 15% from Simple Mathematics, 15% from Statistics and 20% General awareness.

Kerala University Kariavattom campus is one of the top institutes in Kerala. To get admission to PG courses at Kerala University, candidates are required to appear in an entrance examination conducted by Kerala University. Total of 30 seats available in the department. Students with B.A Economics, B.Sc. Mathematics or B.Sc. Statistics are eligible for this course.
